i LOVE holidays. i’m like a big kid! i like the anticipation leading up. i usually never get to all the things i want to, which makes me feel bad. like i promised garrett we’d make a halloween treat for all his friends & also that we’d make ghosts for the front yard but we never got around to it. we even bought the stuff! i bought him a halloween activity kit that we didn’t touch. he made a comment about how he wished we decorated our house for halloween like some other people do. but…i read a book called i was a really good mom before i had kids a while back & i *try* to think of that so i let go of guilt. life just isn’t perfect so when i remember that, i feel better! take for instance, garrett’s halloween costume.
looks like he’s having a lot of fun (eh?) NOT! the kid HATED it. it didn’t feel right on him & drove him crazy. i decided to try to be patient & let it go so he wouldn’t be miserable all night. i told him he didn’t have to wear it even though he picked it out & was dying to have it. miles hated his, too! he cried when he tried it on for a photo op before halloween. worst night ever! these pictures are horrific. everyone was crying & pissed! it happens though!
we decided to just hit up the pumpkin patch in regular clothes next instead…
we went to target to get all ready for the big night…bc i LOVE me some target pictures so i had to bring my camera! garrett stared at the halloween decor for like an hour.
we tried to get creative & buy costumes that would be comfortable bc garrett said he just wanted to wear his regular clothes. i was lucky to find the best etsy shop. amy dorr at baby dear got us our last minute costumes in like 2 days…she was exceptional & so accomodating. i surprised the family with family costumes since no one liked the other ones. garrett was SO happy…his face lit up! john was even kind of excited to have one this year! last year i was a banana & garrett has been talking about it all year. i think i will make sure me & john dress up with the kids every year now that i know how much he liked that. yes, i am a dork…it’s affirmative!
garrett picked out his own ensemble. he didn’t like his tights so he wanted to wear soccer socks…whatever dude – it was perfect…so HIM! even miles was happy with his cape. success! thanks amy! so glad we found you.
superhero john didn’t get home from work until after dark but we found a street light to use…
so…regardless of whether we got to everything or not, whether we had to go through like 1,400 costume changes, we had a GREAT night! i hope you guys did, too!
everyone was happy! well…most of the time 😉
