my family. katy family photographer

this was a tricky one 🙂 i love taking pictures. i love taking pictures of my kids & family. i even attempt selfies with my kids alot but i have never done an entire session as the photographer, mom AND subject! i went into this one frazzled from the start because the location we were headed to ended up being closed & we had to make a last minute decision to go somewhere i’d never even been before. i was stressed because garrett was in a terrible mood & nothing seemed to go right. i forgot certain things at home & as i was trying to set up the tripod to take group shots i thought we were losing light. i was trying hard to separate from worrying about my mom role because i just wanted to take good pictures of my family, but it was hard because garrett was not listening! i can’t wait for my next chance to attempt a session with these people who i adore, love & care for more than the whole world…i enjoy my time with them SO much & was so happy to have the opportunity to do this because it meant we could all be together. next time i won’t worry about the outcome so much or about being a mom (i’ll let john handle the kids!) & it will be more fun 🙂

all in all, we did pretty well! here are a few….

sophia turns one. spring photographer

i LOVE when clients turn into friends. yeah yeah i know it sounds cliche, but i mean it. i can just remember like it was yesterday sitting in starbucks with tabitha planning her maternity session.now after all those sessions we’ve had together (maternity, nb, six month, one year) we are great friends! our families have met & our babies are practically dating (haha jk). we were invited to celebrate sophia’s birthday party with their other family members & close friends. they aren’t clients…they’re friends & i like it that way. 🙂
i love that we have gotten to know each other so well this year. thanks for giving me the opportunity tabitha & allan! thanks for your loyalty, support & love….and thanks for sharing sophia with me. LOVE her!

sophia, how does the time go so quick?! it just seems like it was yesterday you were in your mom’s belly! now you’re running all over the place! you are spunky & full of personality & already have so much character! i really wanted the sun to be shining for your big picture day….your mom & dad know how much i love sunny weather for pictures. but it wasn’t sunny at all….and that was ok because you & your parents made it seem like a sunny day anyway with all of your positive energy!

sessions with your mom & dad are so much fun, sophia! they sing to you & dance with you. they snuggle you & show how much they love you with every move they make…you are one lucky girl & i know they feel the same way!

happy birthday sophia! i’m sure i will see you guys soon! xo

oy. this picture is totally a place holder, because i didn’t get a chance to do this challenge. but i’m not giving up on it, because i really want to participate so that’s why i am using a placeholder picture. i have ideas i just haven’t been able to get to it. sorry to disappoint! hope the group isn’t annoyed with me! please come  back to see in a day or two! 🙂 i am happy to link my friend gigi mcgill…excited to see what she & the rest of the group has on their blog. head on over & check her out!

ty. katy newborn session

love this family! i have had the privilege of photographing both croy boys at about a week old. this time i got to hang out with nathan again who i hadn’t seen in a long time…he is precious! both croys look so different but one thing remains the same…they’re so adorable & perfect in every way. as i was leaving i saw something hanging on the wall that said something like:
we make not have it all together but together we have it all.
i LOVE that! it’s a great thing to remember when things seem busy & chaotic that together you still have it all. and for the record…you guys totally seem like you have it all together every time i see you guys. 🙂
