a one year old fashionista. katy family photographer

I am so lucky because I have been able to watch this little muffin grow from a newborn at about a week old to now. And boy is she cute! And busy…and fashionable….and full of personality. It was really cold, windy & dreary. She was SO. GOOD. After I learned that Rowas had been in the ER most the night sick. What a trooper!

Thanks for your loyalty Christina & Ryan. I ALWAYS love seeing you! I had a great time with you guys! Hope you enjoy your pictures!

Lisa (Tout Petit Pixel) - Oh what a cutie!!! And you captured her so beautifully Kellly! She has the most infectious smile!

Beira - She is adorable! I love the variety you captured for them. Beautiful work.

Tami - What an adorable family! I love the connections you captured between them.

Erin Wheeler - Wow! What a cutie! This are so beautiful-you can’t even tell it was cold & dreary!

These pictures are all unedited & posted just as they came out of the camera using the interval timer…my new favorite thing 🙂

I am sure everyone will get sick of hearing me talk about this & of seeing pictures of me…but….I am so excited about something that Sarah Wilkerson over at clickinmoms taught me. I know I will get sick of seeing me…I personally don’t like seeing myself in pictures but I am just so excited about what she showed me. I was asking her about wireless remotes because mine crapped out on me & she told me about a feature that my camera has that would allow me not to need one. It was so much fun taking pictures today with Garrett that I got carried away & took tons. I might even do it tomorrow, too! 🙂 Sarah is such a good teacher. So glad she told me about this feature. I think I will write a tutorial for clickitupanotch.com on how to use this feature (for people who have this feature on their camera). Thanks Sarah!

Courtney - I can’t believe this are unedited! Way to nail the SOOC!! I LOVE interval timing too and can’t wait to read your tutorial :O) You will treasure these for sure!

Lisa (Tout Petit Pixel) - Love!!!! You are so right, I absolutely need to do this with my boys, those are pictures you will cherish for a lifetime!! And wow, you’re rocking your SOOCs!!!

the way i view new beginnings. clickinmoms project

A couple groups of photographers through Clickinmoms have decided to get together to do a monthly project called: The Way I View….(insert topic here). Each month has a new topic & the key is to use perspective & creativity to depict the topic through your own eyes. This month, I have to admit, was a big bomb for me. Everyday something happened that pushed back doing or even thinking about this project. I’m sure as I go it’ll become more of a routine & I will plan ahead better/ put extra thought into it! Today Garrett & I sat down to take pictures of the three of us: me, him & my bump 🙂 I had planned five places around the house for us to do different things together. Wouldn’t you know, I got the tripod set up, the camera settings ready & Garrett in his place just to find out my wireless remote needed batteries & would no longer fire a shot. It ended up I was only able to do one of my five ideas & no pictures of us together. I’m pretty sure I am crazy, but I let him take the pictures of me – it was the only way I was going ot have something to post & there was no extra time! He pressed the shutter standing on his step stool while my camera was on the tripod. One slight move & he could’ve taken it DOWN! I think I lost a few years of my life but he loved it 🙂
So…why does this depict a new beginning? [Not going to lie, I don’t do a whole lot of reading.] Although I did just read an AWESOME book that a client/ friend got me that I recommend to any moms who put too much on their plate: I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids. Loved it…and that comes from someone who doesn’t usually do much reading! It really helped take the guilt away from not being able to do it all & do it all well. Anyway, I am rambling. It has more to do with the title of all the books – BABY BOOKS! These days have been a bit crazy getting ready for something that will feel like a new beginning when it’s here – the birth of Miles! We have been trying to prepare Garrett as much as possible, so he’s been reading lots of big brother books & is super excited.

I desperately want to take 6 weeks off to be with him. An uninterrupted six weeks with minimal work might I add 🙂 It’ll be tough because the work multiplies by the day & in my desperate attempt to keep up, I have become a workaholic. I want to get done with my list of 2,013 things before he is born so that I can just relax for SIX WEEKS. That will be MY new beginning! Garrett’s new beginning will be being a big brother & John’s will be being a dad of two I guess. It’ll be new for all! We are excited  but busting it to get “ready” if there is such a thing! I kind of forget to do with newborns so I’m a little nervous.

Since we are all doing this together as a group – I’d love to link up with a fellow photographer friend of mine from Clickinmoms who is super talented….let’s see what she documented as a new beginning in her eyes! And she is (drum roll please!)…..Kristin Ingalls! Go check her out.

When you look at hers, you can be directed to another photographer & another & another until finally you complete the circle & see them ALL. The last one on the list if you started here with mine is Emma Wood so if you make it back to her, you know you’ve seen all of them. You won’t want to miss hers (her pics are always so good)! Correction: Megan Squires  is now in the group & is the last person in the loop if you are starting with my page. Yay Megan!

jodi - ah kelly! you will LOVE this new beginninng… it is CRAZY and tricky to balance and it comes with lots of second-guessing if you are doing it all right. BUT you will be SO BLESSED by your new little guy and how he will change your perfect family of 3 for the better by adding even more love into your home. i am so excited for you!

Allison Jacobs - Love these Kelly! It seems it was worth the risk of letting your son press the shutter to get these super cute shots including you!

jennifer dell - Oh, I loved that book too Kelly! I love your new beginning and Garrett is going to make a great big brother! I cannot wait to see you photos once you new little one arrives. Beautiful work! 🙂

this week in pictures 2012 week four. cm pro daily blog

Bethany - I love all of your vivid, candid images! What a great batch! May I ask how you made those canvases with the sayings on them? I have a few quotes that i’ve been wanting to put on canvases for my kids’ rooms. 🙂 Thanks!

Bethany - Woops! I realized as I hit “post” that I had typed an incorrect email address for myself. This one’s correct. Sorry about that! 🙂

admin - hey bethany! thanks for the compliment. i just bought blank canvases from michaels & hobby lobby both (based on sales) – bought acrylic paint & moveable letters (the kind you can stick on but still remove after you’re done). i painted around the letters then removed the stickers so the wgite from the back of the canvas showed through. hope that helps!

Bethany - Oh my goodness! That’s great!! How ambitious! I can’t believe you painted around every letter…I thought they were prints! I love them. 🙂

Bethany - PS: I love that you moved one of the canvases to the space above your bed. Nothing against the previous wall-hanging, but I love your new arrangement! 🙂 (I noticed the change in today’s pictures of you and your son.)
