Get ready for monthly “what to wear” posts from me! I decided to subscribe to Karen Kleinkopf’s monthly guides because they are awesome!Β This is an effort to help give a visual of combinations or styles that photograph well. Does it mean you have to run out & buy these outfits? Of course not! These are only suggestions for what I mean when I say to “coordinate without being matchy” to help guide you. Here is an example of a family (among many others I have photographed) that understands how to be complimentary without being matchy. They always look straight out a what to wear guide!ENJOY!
Just wanted to give a quick thank you to all of my clients out there: the loyal & the new! Without you, I wouldn’t be able to make this job that I love SOOO much my full-time career so I thank you for valuing what I do & investing in custom photography! YOU ARE THE BEST!And because you are SOOO good…I want to do something to give back! I make sure to stay active with donating my time but recently I have noticed that my time has been spent volunteering for big organizations (JDRF, shelters, etc). SO….I want to do something for the people π But I NEED YOUR HELP! I’d like to donate a photo session plus images on a disc to one family this year as a Christmas gift. I would like your help in nominating a worthy family – a family that could really use this & genuinely wouldn’t have pictures otherwise. I am not talking about someone who had car trouble one time & had to scrape by to pay for it, I am talking about a family who is sincerely in need or are dealing with a special sitaution. I know you know what I mean! Please email as much information as possible to kell@kellygarveyphotography.com. Sumbmissions are due by 11/1 so that I may begin selecting the winner & coordinating their session.
I love that you are doing this!! I know some family is going to be so lucky!!!
Such a great idea Kelly! You are going to make one lucky family so happy – you do such beautiful work! π
You have to pick Sharonda and her 3 beautiful well manored, honor roll students. She is a hard working dedicated single mother who is always involved in her children education, she works a full time job as a teachers aide but within the last 7 months has been out & had to have 11 surgeries in & out of hospital which has caused her income to decrease tremendously. She is struggling so much with no help whatsoever yet stays very positive and uplifting for her children. They have gone through so much emotionally since their moter has been sick. Please help them bring out those gorgeous smiles this christmas season. please.
Little Miss Hadley – You have made me the luckiest photographer sharing your first year with me. You are beautiful inside & out & it has been a joy to watch you grow! We have had so much fun going everywhere from your house, to Katy Heritage Park, then Galveston & last but not least, Richmond. I’m so sad that your mommy & I aren’t planning your next session because you are ONE! Thank you Walkers for sharing this year with me & being so great to work with! I enjoy you guys so much!

And than you guys for valuing pictures, getting into them & showing your fun/sweet emotions on camera – it was a joy as always!!!!! And it was so nice to meet both grandmas too!!! I’d write more but I am leaving to go second shoot a wedding now! CONGRATS!!
This was a very special session for a very special person. Happy late Father’s Day, dad! My dad asked for a session for his doggy for his father’s day gift. I love little Murphy. Or Murph-Me as my Garrett says. It was my first dog specific session! I have had dogs with their families plenty of times before but never a dog alone. It was fun! Except he was deathly afraid of the camera, shivering & wouldn’t come anywhere close to me! He is usually all up in my face so I learned alot from this session! I need to use my 70-200mm for the next “dog” session I do. I thought Murphy would be all over me so I had every lens but that one. Oops! Well you live & learn! My dad happened to have his in the car…score! Even though I was able to stand farther with the zoom, he knew that camera was out & he wasn’t going near me!
Here are just a couple from the 254 I edited to give you!
This session took 3 months to finish editing. Or maybe four. I. felt. HORRIBLE. But my dad is the most unselfish person in the world & told me to take my other clients first! I work alot & try to stay on top of editing but I got so busy with all my current sessions that this one got pushed to the side. Every week I thought it was the week to complete it, I got inundated with other sessions. Please forgive me, dad! I never wanted to put you on the back burner! I appreciate you being so understanding! You are the specialest daddy in the world!
Thank you for not losing hope in me & for being so patient!
