i know it can be overwhelming deciphering through all of the options when ordering so that’s why i created this post. i hope this helps put a face to a name when perusing the information packet after your session figuring out what to buy! i love to show my samples so that you can physically hold them in your hands, but when that isn’t an option i hope this can guide you through.
always remember: feel free to ask questions! and if you’d like a custom product you’ve seen somewhere that is not offered – ask me about it. i can’t offer EVERYTHING anyone may ever want but am more than happy to do custom orders when i can. clients: please refer to the welcome packet as a quicker resource for a listing of a la carte items with pricing while ordering to help you. for instance…the largest canvas listed in my packet is a 24×36. i had a client who wanted a 40×60 canvas to act as wall art on a big wall in her dining room to match a piece of artwork she had on an opposing wall. thankfully she asked even though it’s not listed in the packet & i was more than happy to accomodate. i wish i had taken a picture of it but it was so big i was scared to take it out of the box before i got it to her house! moral of the story…just ask & i will do my best to make it happen. 🙂
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DESKTOP PRINT, MOUNTED PRINT (WALL ART), STANDOUT OR CANVAS?
all images are printed on the highest professional grade paper with a matte finish and lustre coating to protect against fingerprints & UV exposure. the paper has a standard archival value of 100 years in home display when properly taken care of. all prints are produced by a professional lab which is not available to the general public.
a standard print is on high quality professional grade paper with luster coating but is “floppy” & meant to be framed. they are available in sizes: wallet, 4×6, 5×7, 8×10 or 8×12. they are called “desktop prints” since they are meant to be framed & usually set on a desk, counter or shelf.
a mounted print is not floppy. a mounted print is harder &Â more stiff because it’s mounted on high quality styrene for added durability. it can be framed, set on a shelf or even mounted straight to the wall. they’re available in sizes 11X14 & up & are called “wall prints” in the welcome packet.
standouts & collages are listed as “wall art” in the welcome packet.
let’s start with standouts. they’re frameless prints mounted on 1.5″ inch thick gatorboard & are ready to hang. gatorfoam board is a dense, durable, lightweight material that is far thicker than foam core or styrene. all boards are edged in black or white trim. the standouts include lustre coating standard.
canvas gallery wraps have an art gallery feel. the canvas is neatly mounted to a 1.5″ inch deep wooden stretcher frame with no exposed fasteners & comes ready to hang (frameless) with lustre coating.
NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT COLLAGES….
collages are a fun way of combining multiple images onto one piece of art. they can be designed with a border between each image OR with no borders full bleed. with collages it’s important to pair images with similar tones & color or it won’t look uniformed. when images are chosen properly, collages can make a statement & take away the stress of choosing only one image for an enlargement. collages must be purchased in a large enough size to show off each image in the collage so that each individual image isn’t too tiny to make an impact). collages are listed on pg. 9 of the welcome packet on the left hand side. they begin at 10X10 & are available much larger. collages comes standard with lustre coating mounted on durable styrene (similar to the wall prints listed above). it is an option to purchase a collage design on a canvas or standout for a $25 additional design fee (+ the cost of the canvas or standout). examples of collages on canvas shown.
AND HOW ABOUT THOSE ALBUMS???
there are a couple options in the album department….mini accordions, layflat albums & assembled albums.
layflat albums do just as their name implies: they lay flat without distorting the pages inside. a special binding allows the book to fully open without creasing the pages & allow you to fully enjoy your images. the books are 10 pages standard (front & back), which creates a 20 page spread. additional pages are $50 per page. layflat albums come standard with a high quality linen cover available in many colors.
the assembled albums are handcrafted leatherbound books. these are truly elegant, upscale books with images professionally mounted on each page to give the page thickness & durability. they’re also available in many color options.
i design all of my albums in a modern, simple, minimalistic way. my goal is for the pictures to speak for themselves, not the design to take over.
WHAT’S A MINI ACCORDION ALBUM?
mini accordian albums are a big impression in a small package. they’re little, cute & fold up purse size. they’re the perfect gift for grandparents or parents. these books are a great way to display your session for an affordable price. these books include 12 custom designed panels. they’re designed with a simple, clean style to bring attention to what matters most: the images.
